My daughter is going away for a few days and has just brought me her white rat to look after whilst she is away. It is some time since I was nurse maid to a rat and am a bit out of touch with such things. When my children were young we used to have all sorts of creatures from tiny little North African mice to a white rabbit that was purchased as a male, but turned out to be female, as we found out when a litter of baby rabbits arrived! My daughter lets this rat have the run of the house, but I don't think I shall be letting it out of its cage in case I can't catch it!
I haven't transcribed another document yet as the weather has been much better this week and the garden has had the benefit of my attention instead. Also I spent a day at the archives with a friend helping her with the history of her house. I find tracing the history of a building so much more difficult than tracing people and we did not have a great deal of success. However I think my friend now has the bug as she really enjoyed her day of research. I'm sure she will be going again.
